Donald Bren and four other Newport Beach philanthropists were honored for their giving at the National Philanthropy Day awards luncheon in Anaheim on Wednesday. Bren, the chairman of the Irvine Co., has given more than $60 million to UC Irvine, both privately and through his Donald Bren Foundation. His other giving has benefitted K-12 education and conservation groups.
