ANAHEIM – With the exception of the Girl Scouts color guard, Megan Mahdi of Laguna Niguel was easily the youngest person in the room Wednesday at the National Philanthropy Day luncheon honoring Orange County’s top philanthropists.

But Megan, 15, held her own before an audience of about 900 people there to salute honorees that included such megawatt beacons of local charity as Donald Bren, Phil and Mary Lyons, and Marion Knott. Megan, a freshman at Aliso Niguel High and a former competitive ice skater, was named the Outstanding Youth honoree by the Orange County chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
