One of the biggest givers in O.C. isn’t very big

Here are some of the people honored today, National Philanthropy Day, for their work with local charities.

Morgan Wickett knows that Alzheimer’s disease affects mostly older people, but the 10-year-old understands the affliction.

“I’ve learned a lot about it,” she said. “… It makes people forget a lot of stuff. It could do something to their patience and attitude.”

Recipients of National Philanthropy Awards talk about their work

This year, four awards for the 23rd National Philanthropy Day on Nov. 19 will be given to Newport Beach and Costa Mesa residents.

The awards celebrate the spirit of giving and highlight various acts of selflessness from people throughout the county. Nationwide, over 100 cities hold the awards.

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — Orange County’s community volunteer leaders have chosen this year’s National Philanthropy Day Orange County Honorees.

The 23rd Annual National Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008 ,at Anaheim Marriott Hotel, 700 West Convention Way, Anaheim.
