Outstanding Philanthropist

Local Philanthropist Receives Recognition

The second annual Night at the Ranch fundraiser benefiting the Boys & Girls Club drew more than 250 guests and co-chairs Steve Blue and Leif Hanson reported that over $150,000 was raised last month.

Honoree Hans LaRoche, a 12-year club employee, inspired those in attendance with his passion for his role as the club athletic director.

“Steve and Leif scored another home-run and we couldn’t be more grateful. The money that was raised will touch so many of our kid’s lives through programs we might not otherwise have been able to offer,” said Executive Director Pam Estes.

Two from Anaheim were among top leaders and organizations in the county honored this year for their work in the community during the National Philanthropy Day Orange County luncheon.

The event is sponsored by the Orange County Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

Bruno Serato, owner of the Anaheim White House restaurant, was nominated by the Assistance League Anaheim, not for the dishes served in his landmark restaurant but for the more than 300,000 pasta dinners he has served to local children whose families have had to move into local motels, according to the press release.
