Haskell & White To Receive National Philanthropy Day Award

Irvine-based CPA firm recognized as Outstanding Mid-Size Business

IRVINE, Calif. – August 13, 2013 – Haskell & White LLP, one of the largest independently owned accounting and consulting firms in Orange County, will be the recipient of the National Philanthropy Day (NPD) Orange County award in the Outstanding Mid-Size Business category this coming fall. Regarded throughout Orange County as one of the most community-oriented business service firms, Haskell & White was recognized for its extensive philanthropy program, which encompasses more than 20 organizations supporting children, the arts, public health and education among other causes.

Submissions wanted for philanthropist awards

The Orange County Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals is on the lookout for philanthropists who will be honored at the 2013 National Philanthropy Day Orange County Awards Luncheon.

Submissions are due by May 24.

This year’s theme “Giving is always in season in the OC,” will be celebrated from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. November 21 at the Hyatt Regency Irvine, 17900 Jamboree Road.

Philanthropy Lauded

I always look forward to attending the National Philanthropy Day luncheon because I know I will be introduced to people in the community who are passionate about helping others. This year’s philanthropy luncheon – the 27th – was held at the Hyatt Regency Orange County in Garden Grove and drew 800 attendees to honor nine individuals, businesses and support groups for their outstanding work in the community.

The event, held at the Hyatt Regency Orange County in Garden Grove, was sponsored by the Orange County Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and presented by The Orange County Register.

Fullerton businessman honored for giving

Joe Lins of Fullerton was recently honored at the National Philanthropy Day Orange County luncheon as the Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser. He was nominated for the award by the St. Jude Memorial Foundation.

Lins is “committed to serving the local community through giving and leadership, including donating free ads for area nonprofits on a highly visible company billboard,” according to the press release.

Local philanthropy gets day of recognition

Two from Anaheim were among top leaders and organizations in the county honored this year for their work in the community during the National Philanthropy Day Orange County luncheon.

The event is sponsored by the Orange County Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

Bruno Serato, owner of the Anaheim White House restaurant, was nominated by the Assistance League Anaheim, not for the dishes served in his landmark restaurant but for the more than 300,000 pasta dinners he has served to local children whose families have had to move into local motels, according to the press release.

Top Newport Philanthropists Honored

A Newport Beach entrepreneur and a corporate powerhouse were among the top honorees at this month’sNational Philanthropy Day Orange County celebrations in Garden Grove.

The PIMCO Foundation and Ronald M. Simon, founder of the Simon Scholars Program and Simon Foundation for Education and Housing , joined the list of Orange County’s top philanthropists, business leaders and individuals honored at the 2012 National Philanthropy Day Orange County Awards Luncheon held on Thursday, Nov. 15 at an event that raised $75,000 for educational programs.

Local Philanthropists Honored

Despite a brief emergency evacuation during the VIP media reception prior to the 2012 National Philanthropy Day Orange County luncheon held last week at the Hyatt Regency Orange County, the event celebrating nine of Orange County’s outstanding philanthropists, business leaders and individuals was, as always, a stand-out event.

More than 800 attendees gathered for the luncheon, appropriately themed “Giving is Always in Season,” joining to celebrate the honorees for their outstanding generosity in the community.
