Message from the Co-Chairs

Welcome to Orange County’s 33rd annual National Philanthropy Day…celebrating our motto to “Take Action! Create Change!”

We are honored to be the co-chairs leading this year’s event, and we wish to thank Suzanne and James Mellor, last year’s Outstanding Philanthropists, for serving as Honorary Co-Chairs for 2018. National Philanthropy Day is a celebration of volunteers and community leaders serving philanthropy in all its diversity. These wonderful individuals, businesses, nonprofits, and youth honorees exemplify what it means to be philanthropic, or in other words, to demonstrate a love of mankind.

We encourage you to nominate a person, group, or business (or all categories!) to recognize their contributions to Orange County. We also invite you to attend with your honoree(s) to celebrate their contributions at National Philanthropy Day on Thursday, November 15th.

Categories include: Founder, Philanthropist, Volunteer Fundraiser, corporation or business—three sizes, Youth or Youth Group and more. One entry per category is selected by a community panel and will be recognized onstage at the celebration, which is attended by more than 800 of our region’s top nonprofit executives, business leaders and philanthropists.

We look forward to welcoming the entire group of honorees that will be nominated this year. They will represent what it means to be truly philanthropic and “Take Action! Create Change!” here in our Orange County community.

Living in Orange County, we are fortunate to be in the midst of people, groups and businesses that selflessly share their wealth and service with others to make our world a better place to live. Many of them receive little recognition for their good deeds. National Philanthropy Day is the one special day of the year that we all gather to share in their stories, gain inspiration from their spirit, and show them some love, too.

For more than 30 years, this wonderful day, founded right here in Orange County by Doug Freeman, has honored philanthropists’ contributions to the greater good of our society. We invite you to celebrate the spirit of National Philanthropy Day throughout 2018!

Warmly,
