The Orange County Association of Health Underwriters is the local Chapter of the National Association of Health Underwriters. It is comprised of agents, brokers, carrier reps and other health insurance professionals. Gena Reed’s philanthropic journey began in high school, where she led a team supporting a young African girl, Emma, needing financial aid for school and food. Many car washes and brownie and cupcake sales were involved. Thus, Emma was the genesis of Gena supporting others less fortunate. Thomas House Family Shelter was founded in 1986 by Garden Grove residents Mary and Bernie Selz, who wanted to help the growing number of unhoused families with children in the community by providing them a safe place to live and build self-sufficiency.
