ANAHEIM – They give when nobody is looking. They help without expecting anything in return. They pick up others because it’s what people are supposed to do for each other.
Those are just some of the traits held by the locals honored Wednesday at the National Philanthropy Day luncheon in Anaheim.
National Philanthropy Day was dreamed up 24 years ago by Doug Freeman, an Irvine-based financial adviser. Since then, more than 1,000 people have been honored for their work in helping others. This year, John and Elizabeth Stahr, of Corona del Mar, were named Lifetime Achievement winners, for their support of nonprofits over the past 40 years.
